One trade-off worth knowing before you pick it.
Grey shows scuffing and dark marks more readily than black does. On a single-day event that is not a concern; on a multi-day show with heavy cart traffic it wants a wipe-down between days to keep looking new. Everything else is the same tile — half an inch of high-density EVA foam, textured on top, jigsaw edges on all four sides.

Where grey wins
Six rooms that are too bright for black.
Daytime corporate sessions
House lights up, no rig, nothing dimmed. A black floor in that room is a hole in the middle of it; grey holds the shape of the space without drawing a line around itself.
Glass atriums and lobby activations
Where the light is daylight and there is a great deal of it. Grey reads as a surface in that light where black reads as an absence of one.
A two-tone floor
The grey and the black tile are the same profile and interlock with each other, so a grey field with a black border or a marked-out walkway through a grey stand, is a straightforward ask.
Wellness and fitness programming
Cushioned underfoot, quiet and a tone that photographs as calm rather than as a stage. The half-inch foam is doing real work here rather than only covering something.
Family and children’s zones
Soft, warm underfoot and forgiving of a fall, in a colour that does not turn a play area into a dark box.
