Specifications
Count the gaps, not the posts.
Ropes hang between posts, so a straight run always needs one fewer rope than it has posts — twelve posts along a walk take eleven ropes. Bring that run round into a closed loop and the twelfth goes in. If you are ordering ropes to replace ones already on site, count the gaps in the line as it stands today rather than counting what is in the van.

The full range
Nine colours and the caps decide the post.
Every colour is made with gold caps. Three of them — red, navy and black — are made with silver caps too and those are the only ropes a polished chrome post takes. Pick the set your posts accept first, then pick the colour inside it.

Reading as an arrival from across a street
Red at an entrance says what the entrance is before anyone is close enough to read a sign. It is the one colour that carries that meaning on its own.
Staying out of the photograph
Black or navy holds a line without appearing in the shot, which is the whole requirement in front of a press wall or a step-and-repeat.
Matching something already printed
Purple, pink, blue and the two greens exist for events where a brand colour is already on the backdrop and the giveaways. Send us the artwork and we will say which of the nine lands closest.
Zoning a floor by colour
One post finish throughout with the rope changing by area — red along the carpet, black through the working end — so the change reads as a decision rather than as a shortage.
Turning a room over between sessions
Ropes come off and go back on in seconds, so a space that is a conference by day and a reception at night changes every line in it without a post being moved.
Replacing a colour a venue already owns
The common order from hotels and production companies: the posts stay where they are and only the rope arrives, either for the look or because the ones on site have had a long life.
The usual add-on
A rope needs a post at both ends.
If the posts are not already on site they go on the same request and they arrive with a rope of their own — so order bare ropes only for the gaps your own posts leave. Gold or black for the nine gold-capped colours, chrome for the three silver ones and one more post than there are gaps in the line.
