Sizing it

How many people fit under each one.

Square footage is the wrong number to book against, because a standing reception and a seated dinner do not use a floor the same way. These are the counts the three party tents hold.

Standing

The 20 × 20 holds about 65. The 16 × 32 plans at 75 to 85. The 20 × 40 takes 100 to 135.

Seated at round tables

Four 60-inch rounds fit the 20 × 20, for roughly 32 covers. Eight of the same rounds fit the 20 × 40, which is 48 to 64 depending on how you seat them.

Seated at banquet tables

Long 8-foot tables put more people under the same roof: around 40 in the 20 × 20, 40 to 48 in the 16 × 32, 80 to 96 in the 20 × 40.

Canopies are sized by the stand

Nobody seats a 10 × 10, so the useful measure is what you are standing behind rather than how many chairs go down. The 10 × 20 is the only one with a seated figure at all — about two banquet tables.

Vendor rows and market stalls

A line of matching canopies down one edge of a field or a car park, each trader on their own footprint. This is the setup the 10 × 10 exists for and the one where a consistent height across the row is worth planning.

Registration and check-in

A desk, two staff and a queue that has to stay dry. Walls on the weather side keep the printed lists usable when the rain comes in sideways.

Outdoor bars and service points

The 10 × 20 covers a bar with service on both sides; the 20 × 20 covers the bar plus the back-of-house behind it, which is the half nobody plans for until the ice arrives.

Company picnics and staff barbecues

A long footprint with a buffet down one side and seating down the other. The 16 × 32 is shaped for exactly that layout, which is why it exists between two square sizes.

Sponsor activations and demo areas

A footprint marked out on open ground where the lighting and the signage hang overhead instead of standing on the floor you were assigned. The 10 × 10 is the canopy for that job — its truss is the one frame in the range with a published hanging load.

Outdoor town halls and tailgates

Cover for a large group for a single day, on a surface nobody is allowed to put a stake into. That constraint is what decides the ballast, not the tent.
